June 27, 2023, Eindhoven, Netherlands – Morphotonics, the leading supplier of large-area nanoimprint technologies, has received a European Innovation Council (EIC) Accelerator Grant. The EIC Accelerator supports individual small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to develop and scaleup game-changing innovations.
The companies were selected in a highly competitive process. 51 selected companies out of 551 total applicants (9%) will together receive €260 million of funding in a combination of grants and equity investments. The selected companies come from 17 countries, and Morphotonics is one of 8 companies selected from the Netherlands.
One of the primary roadblocks for mass market adoption of Augmented Reality (AR) glasses is scalable and high-quality manufacturing of the optical waveguides. Morphotonics’ selection confirms that this topic has high priority for the European Commission. The Morphotonics team is very grateful for receiving this grant and looks forward to enabling mass manufactured AR waveguides.
